Game of the Month (February 2026) - Resident Evil Requiem

February is here, and I smell love in the air! …or is that the smell of frightened groundhogs?  Whatever that smell is, this month is also an exciting one for new game releases!  More than a few games are releasing that I’m looking forward to, but none greater than the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem.  

Resident Evil Requiem is a survival horror action game published by Capcom.  In this game, you will play as FBI intelligence analyst Grace Ashcroft and agent Leon Kennedy as they both investigate a string of deaths that has most recently struck a certain Midwest city hotel. Each character will have a separate gameplay style and different view of the story at large, which is sure to converge in true Resident Evil fashion.  Grace’s game play seems to be more tense and horror, while Leon’s side of the story looks to be more action oriented.  

Resident Evil is a long running series that I’ve been following since the beginning through the highs and the lows.  I remember the first time the dogs broke through the window in the first game, and how tense it was each time Mr. X burst through the walls in the second game. The last couple of entries have been fantastic, and this entry looks to be continuing that trend.  Though they’re apparently moving away from the characters established in 7 and 8, it wouldn’t be the first time we’re surprised by appearances by survivors from the previous entries.  I just hope that there’s a good balance between the horror and the action, and that they keep the tense atmosphere that the last few entries really got right.
