Game of the Month (January 2026) - Code Violet

We made it to 2026!  Some of you are waving goodbye to 2025 with one finger and others are simply ready to make 2026 the best year yet.  In gaming, there is quite a bit to look forward to this year, though January is a slow start.  That’s not saying that there aren’t great games in the works, but looking through all the game that I’m most looking forward to, the pickings are few.  However, one of them was revealed during the Game Awards and majorly piqued my interest, and so it was a simple choice to make my choice for Mega Dads’ Game of the Month for January 2026:  Code Violet.

Code Violet is a third person horror action game developed and published by TeamKill Media.  Code Violet takes place in the 25th century, where humanity is driven to near-extinction due to world-wide calamity.  Sterility has driven the Aion Bioengeneering colony to develop time-traveling technology to abduct women from the past to be surrogates to save mankind.  You play as Violet Sinclair, one of the abductees, who awakens in one of the Aion complexes to disaster, and has to survive while revealing a greater conspiracy in this plan.

If you caught the preview trailer in the Game Awards (or if you just caught it later through YouTube), you’ll see that Code Violet lets off a BIG Dino Crisis vibe, specifically with the scenes that show her facing off with a giant T-rex.  I’m not sure if there is any sort of relation, but I’m a gamer who has been waiting for a new entry in that series since playing through them both over 20 years ago.  This game seems to be a nod to that series while establishing its own post-apocalyptic IP setting, and I’m all for it. Bring on the stealth action and all the dinosaur jump scares and epic battles!

Code Violet will be released on January 10th, 2026 for PS5.
